Person-of-Mystery

Today is Saturday, and this marks the launch of our Person-of-Mystery™ contest, where I post a picture and you have to try and figure out who it is.  I thought about starting easy, but figured that wouldn't be right and instead give you a relative unknown figure.  Good luck!

  2. Sheila, thanks for your submission, but it is not me. Keep up the good work. I'm sure a correct answer is not beyond your grasp!

  3. Does spelling count, Sheila? In which case I'd guess Nate Maas.

  4. Charity, thanks for your submission. It is not my father, (AKA My Best Friend). Although this person would not be far removed age wise.

  5. Judi, although I'm a teacher, I'm okay with misspellings on this site. It's still not me. Thanks for playing. Feel free to guess again, anytime.

  7. Sheila, it is not PJM. Besides, imaginary people do not show up in photos. Keep up the good work! I'm certain correct answer is not far off.

  8. I think I might need to talk to my family about what we should have for breakfast tomorrow. Any suggestions?

  9. Note: I'll be away from my computer for 10 minutes. I have to pick up my oldest son at the pool.

  10. Jim, nice to see you. Good guess, but it is not Gen. McChrystal. I'm impressed at your deductive skill. Probably useful when fighting Super Villains too.

  11. Carla, thanks for your guess, but it is not Gen. Petraeus either. Although, you guys are correct, he was a member of the military.

  12. Carla, it is not Oliver North. Today's Person-of-Mystery is no longer living. Thanks for the good guess!

  13. Charity. Nice to see you are still playing. Unfortunately, it is not David Dolby. The game remains afoot.

  14. Hmmm. It looks like a cadet uniform or ROTC; the hair cut looks early 60s. Not Pat Tillman.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Carla, couldn't tell if that was a guess or not, but Pat Tillman he is not. Keep guessing!

    ReplyDelete
  16. No, Tillman wasn't really a guess, just thinking with the keyboard...

    John O'Neill?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I like your thinking. Famous people and MOH recipients will get you there. It is not John O'Neill. Today's Person-of-Mystery is a decorated veteran.

  30. How about George Patton?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not McNamara, Patton, nor Freeman. Good guessing. Would it help if I told you there was debate over if he should get the Medal of Honor?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sorry Charity, neither Cook nor Murphy.

  33. I never realized it before, but PJM must feel like Rumpelstiltskin each Saturday.

  34. Hey Nate. Nice blog! At least you gave us some hints. I think the person is the ex-unknown Vietnam soldier Michael Blassie.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Good Job, Rob. you got it again!

  36. We have our first winner! Congrats, Rob!

Yes, this is Michael Blassie, the former Unknown Soldier from the Vietnam Conflict. As some of you know, each Unknown Soldier is awarded the Medal of Honor. There was a bit of debate over whether Blassie should get the MOH, since it was given to him (in a way). In the end, his body was reinterred in Missouri and the MOH is on display at Arlington.

  37. Nate, congratulations on the success of your first Person of Mystery Contest. I notice PJM did not appear...perhaps he was overwhelmed by the sheer number of comments.

Charity is a hoot! Is she real?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hmmm...maybe PJM did show up here. The line between evil nemesis and supervillain is a subtle one.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks Flartus, I'm sure PJM is in his fortress/lair working on his next evil scheme. Seems like super villainy never rests. Then again, perhaps it's just better funded. Charity is a hoot. I've known her for some time now and is a close friend. She has a keen sense of humor. It was nice to have her turn up today to support the blog, as I remain grateful for the rest of you as well.

As we're only on Day 3, I think the progress is coming along nicely. I think I finally got natemaas.com to redirect here correctly. I had forgotten I even had that domain until someone noticed it wasn't working. Glad I've finally found a use for it.
