Here's an interesting problem, this morning, when I went to upload a blog post, I was told by Blogger, the hosting site, that I had now exceeded my 1GB photo limit for this blog. This was news to me as I was unaware that there were limits. I'll be looking for a solution soon, but if there is a reader out there who has already encountered a similar issue and has figured out a good work around for this problem, let me know. I could just pay the money that Google wants me to upgrade my storage size on Picasa, but I'd rather do it for free as this blog is still somewhat of a hobby.
So I'm open to suggestions and thanks for your help.
Ha! Yeah that's funny I just got the same thing the other day. $2.50 a month is chump change and I went ahead and paid it. At my current rate it will take me 100 years to use up the 25 GB. Still it's a pain and I don't like it but it somebody's got to pay to keep the servers going and all that.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's why some bloggers advertise. I hate advertisements with a passion and don't want to use them but it would cover these types of administrative costs. Especially on a blog like mine where I do ocassional product reviews and tests on a range of things.
This has happened to me twice and I have to go to my Picasa Web Album and delete old photos one-at-a-time. If you were to go look at some of my old posts you would see blank spaces where photos used to be. That's the only solution or you pay.
ReplyDeleteFinding your Picasa album isn't easy. I had to sign in, click on that little round icon that takes me to blogger help & then type in 'Picasa'. A list of articles pops up & when I click on one of them my album pops up.
I maxed out at 2000 photos & deleting most of them (I kept family photos) took me 3 hours. Have fun!
Create a second email address. A second Picasa account will be created automatically in addition to the first.

Add this second one as second author email address
Follow instructions to validate second author
Remove the first address administrator privileges and grant to the 2nd
Now connect to blogger with the 2nd email address
When this is full create a 3rd

Followed same approach except deleting 1st account because I always log in with that account except when I write a new post in which case I use the 2nd account. I therefore have two administrator accounts for my blog.
Nate, I did my best to translate the advice given to a blogger here in Quebec. No idea what I'm talking about. Hope it makes some sense to you. The blogger who received this advice has not posted since.

ReplyDeleteI suggested the same thing Ellena said, just create a new gmail persona, and get a whole extra storage, then add that persona as a blog administrator. But thing is, I never actually needed to do it.

Oh, and I usually upload pics using Picasa, which keeps them to a manageable size for posting.
Unless your married to the photos, do as Judi suggested, DELETE some of the old ones.
