With two demanding dolls as well, oh dear.

My wife, part of whose family is from Lebanon, had a great aunt who was a nun near Beirut somewhere.

The original format of the photograph may have clues as to whether it was a professional photographer.Brett Paynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07706734864792449845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16096012.post-56046621831299522352011-10-06T21:34:08.000-07:002011-10-06T21:34:08.000-07:00Thanks for all your comments everyone.

I wish I did.

Rob, you're right, I've almost got a collection going now. Just to keep you up to speed, from left to right, is Marymac, Mary, Dorothy, Marguerite, E. S., and Jane. Three of the four girls became missionaries. Marguerite went to China, Dorothy to Lebanon, and Jane to Mexico.

Brett, this photo has always been interesting to me. The family appears too dressed up and stiff for it to be an amateur photographer. I think it must have been a professional who came to the house.Nate Maashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08205088028505450499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16096012.post-71922966043069498122011-10-06T15:55:08.620-07:002011-10-06T15:55:08.620-07:00I always wonder about these photos. the quality o...I always wonder about these photos. the quality of composition, lighting etc suggests a professional photographer, but do you think he would have visited the home?Brett Paynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07706734864792449845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16096012.post-21863871872480795022011-10-06T13:38:18.608-07:002011-10-06T13:38:18.608-07:00Great picture, love the 20s/30s hairstyles of the ...Great picture, love the 20s/30s hairstyles of the girls, and the fact that the dolls are also part of the family.

I tried to match this picture with the other ones using the 'Old Family Photos' tag; it's becoming quite an interesting collection!Rob From Amersfoorthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05126935681056217032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16096012.post-59180043564557570422011-10-06T10:56:11.919-07:002011-10-06T10:56:11.919-07:00Looks like a very fine family, makes me wish I cou...Looks like a very fine family, makes me wish I could somehow visit & converse with them.
