Person-of-Mystery

Welcome to Cipher Saturday!  You've found the home of everyone's favorite weekend pastime, where a stylized photo of a somewhat famous person from history is provided here for you to identify.

Additional clues may be found in the cipher below:

So, who could I be?  That's the mystery!  Go ahead and take a guess and then go enjoy your day.  Check back tomorrow and I'll reveal the answer.  The first correct post will be declared the winner.

If you'd like to make sure that your guess is correct, enter his name into Google Images and this photo will be found on the first pages of the image results.

Honus Wagner. Simple. (To those of us who love the game.)

Norman, nice job. Of course, you are correct!

well, when I saw the image I immediately thought baseball...looked up Ty Cobb and saw it wasn't him, then looked at the comments. Honus, of course! Silly me, paint me a dummy again.

At first glance, my 13 year old son said, "Oh, that's Honus Wagner." Amazing what minds can store when an interest is there.

Michael, sounds like you were on the right track!

Jules, yes, it's amazing how proficient minds can be when there is an interest in learning. The schools always talk about how to raise test scores but they want to raise them in all the boring subjects. If they just taught subjects like sports, video games, movie trivia, and pop music, I'm sure we'd see our test scores jump.
