OPOD Reveal

Astrocrabpuff suggested that I reveal how I'm able to solve the Mystery Person contest on OPOD.  Being a history teacher, many of the posted photos look familiar, but today's was particularly so.  One of the magazines I like reading is Wired.  A few months ago, they had an article on the race to be the first to the South Pole and I remembered seeing the photo with the article.  I just did a quick Google search for "Wired race south pole."  The article was still there with the photo.

I'm a Wired fan also, although I believe it has gone downhill recently. I would have to say it reached its zenith with this article, especially the subsection entitled Get Small.

It was a long time ago, in a land far far away.

Great fun today!

Ah - in my case it's a love of the polar (Artic and Antarctic) explorers. :)

Dear Anon, Dave (over at Shorpy) has a number of connections with San Luis Obispo. I believe his brother attended Cal Poly (our local state university). It has been fun to see those photos from time-to-time. I even thought about taking some snapshots of photos from long ago and sending them to him to show him what SLO looks like now.
