Miss Jessie Burrows

Hello Jessie dear – Rec'd your letter Sat. morning.  Bless your heart it seemed awfully good to get it.  We are enrolling to-day.  Registered 34 this A.M.  Very bright looking young people.  I will like this work fine I believe.  You will get a some day.  Lovingly – Nellie May

(For clarification, Nellie May Benton lived near the Burrows in Wichita and would later become Jessie Burrow's sister-in-law).

WOW, so that is how great universities start.
That building doesn't look big enough to hold 34 students, plus the facilty. Plus maybe more to come.

Did this place become Barclay College?

DADD, I had not heard anything about this place before I found the post card. According to Barclay College's website, this Academy school eventually became the college. Jessie attended Friends University in Wichita and apparently there were a number of these little rural Quaker Academies.
